This is an exciting opportunity for artists to propose a site specific installation in the Target Gallery. This call for proposals is open to all artists nationally. This will feature an artist's installation in progress for two weeks, where the public will be invited to visit and engage the artist in dialogue about their process, followed by two weeks of the work on exhibit in the gallery. The artist will provide a gallery talk at the reception on August 7.

Juror: Dale Ihnken, Executive Director of the Hamiltonian Artists in Washington DC

Awards: A stipend will be offered to the artist of the chosen installation proposal along with assistance in finding accommodations.

Project Space

Lexington Art League

The Lexington Art League invites artists to apply for an exhibition in the Project Space for its 2008-2009 calendar year. The mission of the Project Space is to exhibit installation and new media work that is engaging, challenging, and experimental in both concept and execution. The Project Space, located in the basement of the historic Loudoun House, is 29’ x 20’ with concrete and brick walls that are painted white, and an unpainted concrete floor. There is one doorway. The ceiling has exposed pipes and ductwork. Exhibitions will run for approximately six weeks, beginning in July 2008. The artist will be entirely responsible for the installation and removal of their artwork, as well as solely bearing the financial responsibility of any and all supplies and travel expenses, although the LAL will provide a small honorarium.

KY7 Biennial

The KY7 Biennial is the beginning in a series of exhibitions, presented by the Lexington Art League, showcasing new work by living artists in Kentucky and all of its contiguous states including Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana, celebrating the richness and variety of the visual arts in our region. All artists who have spent time during the last three years working in any of the above states are invited to submit images of their work, in any medium, along with an exhibition statement and resume for consideration by the selection committee. While all media will be considered, the exhibition will place special emphasis on contemporary art that uses  new media or installation work.
