LINEWEIGHT-Contemporary Drawing
Truman State University Art Gallery
Deadline: 08/01/08
Call for Artists – LINEWEIGHT
Submission Deadline: August 1, 2008
Lineweight is a curated exhibition of contemporary drawing to be
displayed at the Truman State University Art Gallery in Kirksville, MO
in January and February 2009. A CD-ROM catalog will be produced to
document the show and participating artists will receive an honorarium.
Please e-mail Aaron Fine at
afine@truman.edu for full text of call to
artists. Artists are encouraged to submit work that reinforces the
critically important status of drawing in contemporary art. Artists may
submit work already completed or may propose a new project for the
exhibition. Once described as handmaiden to the arts, drawing has
become a critically important practice in art today. While linked to
feminist concerns with the body, drawing also neatly maps onto our
mind’s processes.
