“Beyond Printmaking”

“Beyond Printmaking” is an art competition and exhibition organized by
the Landmark Arts Gallery and the Texas Tech printmaking area in the
Texas Tech School of Art. All media including time based and
installation will be considered. An artist’s statement illuminating the
artist’s conception of printmaking must be included with the entry.
Work must be original and completed within the last 3 years and is open
to professional artists living in the U.S., 18+. $ 2,500 in cash
prizes. $25 for up to three entries. $5 each for up to two additional
entries submitted for a total of 5 entries. The juror is Holly
Morrison, Associate Professor of Printmaking/Painting at Virginia
Commonwealth University. All entries, digital only, must be postmarked

Art & design with a message.
516 ARTS, a nonprofit contemporary art space in downtown Albuquerque,
is accepting submissions for "SPEAK OUT: Art, Design & Politics",
curated by Abby Goldstein, Associate Professor of Art, Fordham
University, New York. Exhibition dates: November 1-December 30, 2008.
What success can artists and designers have in causing and effecting
change today? This exhibition showcases artists and designers from
around the world who have taken on the challenge of creating socially
and politically charged messages that are meant to persuade, inform
and/or educate audiences in a visually overstimulating landscape. It
includes political and social posters and artwork that span the last
decade selected by invitation, as well as curated from this call for
art.

Arlington Arts Center seeks contemporary fine artists working in all
media for solo exhibitions in our 2009 season. Ten to fifteen artists
will be chosen to show in our seven separate galleries—or on our
grounds, in the case of outdoor sculpture. Jurors include: Anne

SOLID GOLDVox Populi

Vox Populi, a
member-run artist collective, founded in Philadelphia in 1988 to
support the work of emerging artists with regular exhibitions,
lectures, gallery talks and related programming, is currently accepting
submissions for the gallery's annual juried exhibition. Entries are due
at the gallery on or before April 27.
Solid Gold will be on exhibition at Vox from June 6 through June 27 and
is being juried by Adelina Vlas, Assistant Curator for Modern and
Contemporary Art at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and Sarah
McEneaney, visual artist.
Artists of all media are invited to submit 3 or 5 examples of works.
All work submitted for consideration must be available for exhibition.

Magnitude Seven
An International Competitive Exhibit of Small Works

Every year Manifest calls for little
works of art from around the world. Like short poetry, they are a
challenge to craft with the same presence of their larger counterparts.
Each exhibit brings in hundreds of powerful yet diminutive masterpieces
for our jury to mull over. Inevitably we end up with a gallery full of
diverse, compelling, and exquisite little gems. Manifest’s patrons
eagerly await the Magnitude SEVEN event each year. So without further
ado, we offer this call to artists to submit works no larger than seven
inches in any dimension (any proportion). Standard presentation devices
like mats and frames that are not considered part of the work of art
are not limited by the 7" criteria.
Eligibility: entries must represent original
works no larger than 7"x7".
Media: Open to all traditional and non-traditional genre and media.
Catalog:
Manifest will produce a full-color catalog documenting the work in
MAGNITUDE SEVEN. Exhibitors will receive a 50% discount on one copy of
the catalog. For examples of past catalogs visit Manifest Press.
Entry Fee: Each work submitted must be accompanied by a $10 non-refundable
entry fee. Number of entries is unlimited. Entry fee must be paid
by check or money order made payable to MANIFEST, or by credit card

The KY7 Biennial is the beginning in a series of exhibitions, presented
by the Lexington Art League, showcasing new work by living artists in
Kentucky and all of its contiguous states including Ohio, West
Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana,
celebrating the richness and variety of the visual arts in our region.
All artists who have spent time during the last three years working in
any of the above states are invited to submit images of their work, in
any medium, along with an exhibition statement and resume for
consideration by the selection committee. While
all media will be
considered, the exhibition will place special emphasis on contemporary
art that uses new media or installation work.
